West End, Brisbane 2002

West End 2002

The first exhibition in the Place Matters series was documented in my home suburb of West End, Brisbane.

West End, A Sense of Place examines anxiety caused by rapid urban development and gentrification. The exhibition celebrates the diversity of West End and the importance of belonging, looking at controversial changes to the social and built environment. A building might, but a home cannot have a price. It has a value.

Silver gelatin prints, soundscape and sensory interactive items. Funded by the Australian Government through Arts Queensland.
